3 Carpet Cleaning tips you should know

There are different DIY carpet cleaning tips for rugs that are all said to be the best. But here are a few simple and basic tips that can help you keep your rug clean and in good condition. All you need to know about vacuuming, stains and dirt, and how to get the carpet to smell like it did when it was first bought.

Carpet Care Tip # 1: How Often should you vacuum?

The carpets need vacuuming at least once a week, more often if they are in high traffic areas. Doing so helps to extend your carpets life. You should move the vacuum cleaner slowly over the carpet to allow it to suck up deeper particles. If you have a plush carpet, you need to take extra time and dust the same surface several times before moving on to the next section of the rug. If the carpet smells bad, put some baking soda in the dust bag. This will help to eliminate some odors. If this doesn’t do the job, then you will need to call the professional carpet cleaning service of Ecogreen Pro.

Carpet Care Tip # 2: How to clean stains from your carpets

There will always be stains sometime on your rug it’s unavoidable and sometimes your couch will also need to be cleaned as well. If you get a stain, wipe gently with a white towel and then clean properly. Never rub the stain, it will only get bigger. When using a detergent, work inside the stained area and slowly massage the carpet outwards of the stain. Each spill or stain may need different cleaning products. If you spill red wine on the carpet, you need to thin it with white wine and then cold water, then wipe with a white towel. If you have had urine from your pet on the carpet, use a mild detergent with a teaspoon of vinegar in warm water. Apply the solution to the stain and allow to dry and vacuum then. When you have major stains like the one’s mentioned above its always better to call and have your carpets professionally cleaned , there is no substitute for that.

Carpet Care Tip # 3: leave it to the professionals

After a while, the carpets need a deeper cleaning . We recommend at least two times per year especially around the changing of the seasons. You will find that rotating your carpets after each steam cleaning is also important. However, if you still want to go the DIY route then, use a mild detergent on the carpet. First, you must thoroughly vacuum the carpet before deep cleaning. After cleaning the carpet, make sure that there is ventilation for the carpet to dry and do not touch it when it is damp.

If your carpet is expensive, it is important to have it professionally cleaned by a specialist, if you want it to be kept in good condition for several years. We always tell our clients that there is no substitute for a professional cleaning service as we understand how to be delicate and care for your carpets properly.
